Supporting Therapists: EABCT Conference in Berlin
Mohammed Mukhaimar represented Palestine Association for Behavioural and
Cognitive Therapies (PABCT) at the World Congress of CBT in Berlin in July
2019.
At the same time, Mohammed attended the general meeting of the European
Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Therapies of which PABCT is an
affiliate member. He took the opportunity to discuss the development of
the Palestinian association with key professionals and personnel and to plan
training courses that Sumud will sponsor in October and in 2020.
He was part of the Congress’s international organisation committee, he
met with delegations from all over the world and particularly from the Arab World
where discussion took place on developing and disseminating CBT across the Arab
region.
Sumud Palestine is in the middle of organising part two training course
on Schema therapy in partnership with PABCT. The course will be delivered in
Autumn this year.
Supporting farmers in the West Bank
Sumud Palestine, formerly the North Staffordshire Olive
Tree Campaign, is pleased to report that £14,920.50 has been sent to the JAI
Keep Hope Alive Olive Tree Campaign to support farmers in the West Bank. The
JAI reports that their annual objective is to bring in about 350 new sponsors
and to help in replanting 8,000 new olive trees each year and ‘the trees
planted so far have helped the farmers to be steadfast on their land and
confront the unjust Israeli military practices and more importantly, to get
individuals from all over the world involved and more aware of what is
happening in Palestine.
‘In spite of
the destruction of the very foundations of their existence despite the ever-
increasing violence in the Holy Land, Palestinian women, men and children are
committed to rebuilding their society and its structures without the use of
violence. They do need your support and involvement.’
Meeting
with Mazin Qumsiyeh
One hundred
and ten people crowded into Trinity Church in Leek to hear Mazin Qumsiyeh on 6
August. This his best audience and it raised the most money – £505. Mazin is a Palestinian scientist and
author and the director of the Palestine Museum of Natural History. He is
also a veteran activist who never gives up.
It was an honour to have him in Leek.
Sumud Palestine has not
organised any meetings recently but activists in Leek regularly organise
stimulating evenings of film or speakers at the Foxlowe Arts Centre.
Please donate generously If you wish to sponsor an olive tree
or support Palestinian therapists. None of your money is spent on anything
other than the objective you specify.
Thank you.
